2018 National Conference

NCAN is pleased to announce the theme of the 2018 NCAN National Conference: Building Bridges to Success. This year’s conference will take place Sept. 24-26 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown in Pittsburgh, PA. The Call for Proposals will launch in early February; please continue to check this web page for updated information if you are interested in presenting!

More than 1,000 people attended the 2017 NCAN National Conference in San Diego, CA where we presented four pre-conference sessions and over 70 workshop sessions. We anticipate the same success this year.

The major topics of discussion at the 2018 NCAN National Conference will be:

  • Connecting College and Career Success
  • Equity and Opportunity
  • Financial Aid and Literacy
  • Management and Leadership
  • Policy and Advocacy
  • Postsecondary Access and Readiness
  • Research, Data, and Evaluation
  • Student Success in Postsecondary Education

This year, we’ll again offer conference sessions in two formats:

  • “Effective practices sessions” are traditional conference sessions with a panel and/or presentation and time for audience Q&A. Participants should come away with a new idea or strategy to implement when they get home. Effective practices sessions may be 60 or 75 minutes in length.
  • “7-14-28 presentations” include a series of seven-minute talks featuring a maximum of 14 PowerPoint slides, with a minimum 28-point font size. These fast-paced, concise talks showcasing ideas, research, outcomes and solutions are grouped together by theme and presented consecutively in one session, during which audience members listen to each presentation and then have time to ask questions and discuss their thoughts and learnings. We encourage you to submit a proposal to present in this innovative format, which has proved popular at recent conferences!

We hope to see you in Pittsburgh!
