The National College Access Network (NCAN) invites you to submit proposals for breakout sessions at its Annual Conference, October 11-13, 2010. The Annual Conference will take place in downtown Washington, DC as higher education comes to the forefront of policy discussions and public attention. Please forward this opportunity widely to your colleagues, associates and organizational members.

NCAN's mission is to build, strengthen, and empower communities committed to college access and success so that all students, especially those under-represented in postsecondary education, can achieve their educational dreams. The goal of this conference is to address these issues as NCAN pursues its mission and new 2010-2013 strategic plan.

All proposals submitted must fit into one of the following categories (examples):
•    College Access (serving under-represented students, admissions advising, mentoring, tutoring, early awareness)
•    Student Success (retention, graduation, completion, pipeline)
•    Financial Aid (FAFSA, financial aid advising, scholarships, financial literacy)
•    Data/Evaluation (student tracking, program evaluation)
•    Policy/Advocacy (policy briefs, advocacy trainings)
•    Collaborations (networks, partnerships)
•    Development (fundraising, grant applications)
•    Non-Profit Management (990, Board Development, Branding)
Presenters are highly encouraged to focus at least one part of their session on a practical application of the information presented.

•    Presenters must register for the conference (one-day options are available).
•    Presenters are responsible for their own travel and conference expenses (including the conference registration fee).
•    Presenters are encouraged to book their hotel rooms early and receive the conference rate

Session logistics include:
•    Breakout sessions are 90 minutes and should include time for presenter, attendee interaction such as discussion groups or question and answer.
•    NCAN highly encourages that sessions are limited to three presenters and that at least one presenter be a practitioner (such as an NCAN Regular Member) who shares experiences from the field.
•    Materials should be prepared for an audience of approximately 50 – 100 college access practitioners, researchers, and higher education officials.
•    All meeting rooms will be equipped with a screen, LCD projector and podium with microphone. If presenters require additional equipment, such as a laptop computer or TV/DVD, they are responsible for rental costs.

All session proposals must be submitted using the online submission form (CLICK HERE). The deadline for submission is Friday, March 19th. Proposals in other formats will not be considered.
