iMentor, an NCAN member, currently operates a college access and success program in New York City, Chicago, and the Bay Area that “harnesses the power of long-term, personal relationships to help students succeed.” Their mentors are volunteers recruited to pair with high school student for at least three years. IMentor matches every student in its partner schools with a college-educated mentor that helps to deliver a “best-in-class college curriculum.” Ultimately, iMentor-served students are 25 percent more likely to go to college than their peers in similar schools.

This webinar, part of NCAN’s Career Success Spotlight series on connecting college and career success, will focus on using volunteers to help advise and/or provide career readiness services to students.

Representatives from iMentor will discuss the recruitment of mentors and volunteers, expectations for mentors and mentees, the logistics of managing mentors and businesses, and the relative replicability of the different components of their work in this space.

This webinar is generously supported by Strada Education Network. For more on NCAN’s work on connecting college and career success, click here.
