NCAN and Pathways to College Network Set to Launch Research to Practice Brief
Do you ever feel that you don’t have enough time to keep up with the current research on college access and success? Do want to figure out how to translate that research into practice to better serve your students? NCAN and its partner Pathways to College Network have a solution…
The National College Access Network (NCAN) and Pathways to College Network (PCN) are launching a project to help bridge the gap between research and practice for college access practitioners. This project, Research to Practice (R2P), features an ongoing series of newsletters that present concise, practitioner-focused summaries of important and empirically rigorous research on college access and success issues.
This thematic, web-based newsletter will be distributed quarterly to over 10,000 individuals, the bulk of whom are professionals working in the arena of college access and success. This newsletter will be different from other journals/projects in that this version will present research in an easily comprehensible and usable format, include practitioner interviews, and provide reality-based action steps that will guide implementation of best practices. The main goal of this project is to influence behavior based on reliable research to improve college access and success. The first issue, set to be released in March 2010, will be on the topic of “Understanding College Costs.”
NCAN and PCN have established an advisory committee of leading researchers and experienced practitioners to assist in the selection of relevant research studies, to review and provide feedback on the publication prior to release, and to assess the effectiveness of the project. NCAN and PCN are fortunate to have their input in the development of this much needed resource. Advisory Committee Members:
