This is an important day for the growing nonprofit. The shift from Admission Possible to College Possible – accompanied by a new and rejuvenated, but familiar logo and tagline, “Open a world of opportunity” – captures the breadth of College Possible’s college access and degree completion support services as well as its belief that when college is possible, anything is possible.
From serving 35 low-income students in Minnesota’s Twin Cities to 8,700 low-income high school and college students in Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin, College Possible has grown 250-fold since its founding in 2000. The new name will launch the organization forward in its hopes to reach 10 metro locations across the country and 20,000 low-income students annually as soon as 2015.
As part of its 2011 Community Partnership Award, Mutual of America produced a documentary-style film featuring the tireless work and inspiring stories of the College Possible students, staff and AmeriCorps members, and organizational partners and supporters; people who envision a day when the future of America’s children is determined solely by their talent, motivation and effort. It is their enthusiasm and energy that will carry College Possible forward in 2012 and beyond!
