Who can be a Supporting Member? Supporting members are any organizations, businesses, entities, or individual that supports NCAN’s mission and/or work to further college access and success, but do not qualify as Regular Members.
Examples include: foundations, civic organizations, associations, government agencies, lenders, guarantors, any for-profit entity, and private individuals not working for a member organization
Any organization or individual is welcome to join as a Supporting member. Dues structures are outlined below. Individuals working for organizations that qualify as Regular members are
highly encouraged to apply for Organizational membership in the Regular Member category as this will extend membership benefits to all staff members.

Member Services page. All Supporting Members receive all benefits, with addition of being invited to Supporting member convenings. Supporting Members are not able to vote in NCAN proceedings or for NCAN Board members.
Member Benefit Eligibility
Organizations: Membership benefits extend to all staff members of supporting organizations
Individuals: Membership benefits extend only to the individual approved
for membership and may be designated to any other individual.
Membership DuesSupporting membership dues are divided based on organization type. Please see the listings below for your organizations annual dues. Membership dues are pro-rated for the first year on a monthly basis and are due on July 1 annually for all additional years of membership.
- $3000 for granting foundations, corporations, private lenders
- $1500 for associations; civic organizations; government agencies; non-profit lenders, guarantors and servicers; for-profit entities directly serving students and not charging a fee for any service, particularly the primary service, to students and families*
- $250 for individuals
*Additional information beyond the standard NCAN membership application may be requested.
Application Time LineMember applications are accepted year round. All applications must be reviewed and approved by the NCAN Board of Directors according to NCAN by-laws. When applications are received, the primary contact will receive a confirmation email that includes a time line. All applications will be processed and reviewed within 6 weeks of submission. All memberships are scheduled to start on the first of the month and year one membership dues are pro-rated based on the membership start date.
