PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITY: STATEWIDE NETWORK COORDINATOR

The National College Access Network seeks a Statewide Network Coordinator for its Washington, DC national office.  The mission of the National College Access Network (NCAN) is to build, strengthen, and empower communities committed to college access and success so that all students, especially those underrepresented in postsecondary education, can achieve their educational dreams.

The organization does this by actively helping a network of state and local college access programs that provide counseling, advice, and financial assistance; sharing best practices among the network; providing leadership and technical assistance; helping communities create new college access programs, and advocating for public policy in support of the students our programs serve.

NCAN seeks a Statewide Network Coordinator to oversee the expansion and creation of statewide college access networks in six targeted states with low college-attainment rates.  The Statewide Network Coordinator is a three-year, grant funded position that will manage the regranting process to the targeted states including RFP development, proposal review, and grant awards, as well as annual site visits, site technical assistance, and the development of strategic partnerships that support the expansion and creation efforts.

The successful candidate will have experience with non-profits or in an education setting (K-12, higher education, or a state-level system), expertise in grant management, partnership building, and educational outreach services.  Minimum Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of professional experience and ability to travel are required.  Salary and benefits are competitive.

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITY:  DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

The National College Access Network seeks a DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT for its Washington, DC national office.  The mission of the National College Access Network (NCAN) is to build, strengthen, and empower communities committed to college access and success so that all students, especially those underrepresented in postsecondary education, can achieve their educational dreams.

The organization does this by actively helping a network of state and local college access programs that provide counseling, advice, and financial assistance; sharing best practices among the network; providing leadership and technical assistance; helping communities create new college access programs, and advocating for public policy in support of the students our programs serve.

The Director of Development is a new position that will spearhead development efforts as NCAN continues to grow and will have primary responsibility for implementing the infrastructure needed to grow a $2 million budget through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, membership and corporate and foundation support.  It is expected that the amount raised by the director will increase in future years as the director systematically and effectively strengthens the organization’s overall fundraising capacity.

The individual should be a skilled, dynamic fundraising professional with a proven record of success.  The successful candidate will have an interest in helping NCAN fulfill its strategic mission and vision by creating and executing a diverse fundraising strategy to increase revenue to meet the growing needs of the organization with a focus on raising unrestricted dollars, including capacity-building and general operating grants, membership dues and conference sponsorship.  Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Director of Development will lead research efforts related to industry trends and funding opportunities, manage a fundraising database, develop and track proposals and reports, maintain a stewardship program for current funders, donors and members, and prepare regular development reports and presentations for the Board of Directors.  

An appropriate educational background, no fewer than three years of successful experience in fundraising, and ability to occasionally travel, are required.  Salary and benefits are competitive.

Strong candidates will be highly organized and able to work on multiple tasks with specific time frames and shifting priorities, have a high level of initiative, and possesses excellent partnership-building skills as well as strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.  The position requires an excellent knowledge of the philanthropic climate and an understanding of and commitment to college access and success issues.
