Membership Policies

Application Time Line
Member applications are accepted year round. All applications must be reviewed and approved by the NCAN Board of Directors according to NCAN by-laws. When applications are received, the primary contact will receive a confirmation email that includes a time line. All applications will be processed and reviewed within 6 weeks of submission. All memberships are scheduled to start on the first of the month and year one membership dues are pro-rated based on the membership start date.

Membership Benefit Eligibility
Regular Members
Organizations or schools joining as a whole receive membership benefits for all staff members of the organization or school. Programs of larger organizations or schools receive membership benefits for the staff members who work directly for the program listed on the application and whose compensation is included on the operating budget listed on application.

Supporting Members
Organizations: Membership benefits extend to all staff members of supporting organizations
Individuals: Membership benefits extend only to the individual approved for membership and may be designated to any other individual.

Dues Processing and Renewal
The NCAN membership year follows the NCAN fiscal year of July 1 – June 30. Annual membership dues are due on July 1 of each year. New members have pro-rated dues for their first year of membership based on their membership start date.

Statewide and Regional College Access Network (CAN) Discount
Members of statewide/regional CANs and chapters of national organizations are eligible for a 25% discount from NCAN dues. The statewide/regional CAN or national organization must be a Regular Member of NCAN for the discount to apply. New member applicants must also qualify as Regular Members for the discount to apply. To receive the discount, please obtain the discount code from your statewide/regional CAN or national organization.

Return/Refund Policy
Membership fees for accepted NCAN members are non-refundable for approved membership applications. For those organizations whose membership application is not approved, a refund will be issued.

Upon receiving your application, NCAN will send an email confirming receipt of your information and outlining the schedule for your acceptance. Privacy Policy
NCAN values the privacy of its members and we have structured our on-line activities to protect your privacy. NCAN does not sell, trade, rent, lease or share personal information about our members to any third party source not affiliated with the National College Access Network.
